How to Clean Automatic Drip Coffee Makers

1. Dissolve one ounce of citric acid in 4 cups hot tap water; then add 4 cups cold tap water.

2. Pour all eight cups of solution into water reservoir of coffee maker.

3. Remove the coffee filter, turn the coffee maker on, and allow 4 cups of solution to run through. Unplug the coffee maker to stop the rest of the solution from running through.

4. Let coffee maker stand 20 minutes.

5. Plug coffee maker back in and complete the brewing cycle by allowing the remaining solution through the coffee maker.

6. If coffee maker is heavily limed, repeat the cycle with the same solution after it has cooled.

7. Rinse coffee maker thoroughly 4 times by cycling 8 cups fresh, cold tap water each time or until water is clear.

Use this procedure every 3 to 4 weeks for best results.
