From alt.coffee newsgroup:
I have a Krups Novo 2000, and based on suggestions from those on this group, I
removed the Perfect Froth attachment to get the milk to steam hotter before it
overflowed the milk pitcher. This does indeed work well, but it isn't as easy
to get a THICK froth.
So, I tried something that seems to work: Keep the Perfect Froth thing
attached to the steam nozzle, and during the first 1/2 minute or so of
steaming, keep a finger covering the small opening in the tube that sticks up
(this is the opening that sucks air into the milk to give it extra froth).
This prevents air from being pumped into the milk, and allows the temp of the
milk to get to where you want it without the milk frothing up too fast. Then,
when the temp is just right, remove your finger from the opening, and allow the
attachment to pull air into the milk, which allows it to froth up real thick
and hot.
